So let’s just get to it. Let’s find out how the brand is doing in terms of laptops. Are Gigabyte laptops any good?
Gigabyte Technology– A Brief Background
Gigabyte, formally GIGA-BYTE Technology Co., Ltd, is a Taiwanese-based tech and computer hardware giant founded in 1986 by Pei-Cheng Yeh.
Dealing in the manufacture and vending of a wide variety of computer hardware and other tech products, its sweetest business comes through the motherboards only. It’s yea, the company’s primary business, and it proudly pockets some big titles and recognitions for its this single product line.
Gigabyte Technology is also well-known for its graphics cards that it produces in partnership with NVIDIA and AMD.
Besides these two, the company deals in a wide variety of products, including desktop and portable computers, computer peripherals, tablets, ultrabooks, notebooks, mobiles, power supplies, cooling components, and a lot more.
It has a subsidiary company named “Aorus” that manages the gaming forelimb of the brand. Aorus is a registered sub-brand trademark of Gigabyte and belongs to Aorus Pte. Ltd. – a Singapore-based company. Stemmed from Gigabyte, Aorus specializes in making gaming hardware i.e. gaming laptops, GPUs, coolers, and gaming motherboards, etc.
Gigabyte in the Laptop Industry – It’s Just a Run-of-the-Mill Brand Apropos of Laptops
If I am being honest, I’d again say that the brand is near to matchless when it comes to producing some seriously gaming-grade badass motherboards. Yep, for both Intel and AMD platforms.
Whereas, in the laptop line, Gigabyte is, hmm, just OK. For laptops, it targets two big markets i.e. gamers and content creators.
But only a very few of Gigabyte’s gaming laptops could make it to a decent furor. And ultimately to a good competition with its adversaries in the line.
So yeah, the company has some great gaming laptops with a few juggernauts being voted as the best gaming solutions; powerful than some desktop setups even. Other than that, there isn’t such a great value selection in Gigabyte’s domain apropos of its laptop line.
Looks like the brand has something for everyone, right? Well, no doubt it has something for everyone, still, because it’s not a mainstream name in the line, Gigabyte’s business through laptops is quite thin.
Anyways some of the brand’s popular laptop stretches include Aero, Aorus, and G series.
Is Gigabyte a Good Brand for Laptops? – My Verdict
There still are a few reasons why you’d be better off considering Gigabyte as your go-to brand for your next laptop. And I won’t be wrong if I call them the brand’s strengths in the line.
Hence some of the brand’s biggest strengths, while speaking of its laptop stretch, are as follows.
#1. Gigabyte Has Something for Every Elite User
Like MSI and Razer, considering reaching out to Gigabyte is only good for you if you are made of money. Yeah, if you are a hardcore gamer, a pro-level content creator, or anyone looking for a powerful desktop replacement setup, here surely is a solution for you.
Gigabyte’s Aero Lineup
With its Aero laptop lineup, the company has a focus mainly on those highly professional creators and designers. Laptops here come with some immaculate displays, precision-focused hardware, and mostly sleek aluminum casings.
You can easily find up to OLED-level displays in the Aero domain. Aero 15 OLED (XB and XC) and Aero 17 HDR (XA) are some of the cream laptops in the line.
As mentioned earlier above, Aorus is the brand’s gaming forelimb dealing with nothing but gaming peripherals only. So Gigabyte, through its Aorus laptops, targets those hardcore gamers only.
These laptops come with some exceptional raw hardware powers, higher screen refresh rates, etc., and great thermal solutions. Besides, most of the laptops of this lineup pack gaming-optimized mechanical keyboards as well.
Some of the best gaming laptops by Gigabyte-Aorus include Aorus 5 SB, Aorus 7 SA, Aorus 15G, 15P, and Aorus 17G, and 17X.
Gigabyte G Series
The brand’s G series is neither focused on gamers nor creators. It’s quite close on both counts. Gigabyte G lineup has, sort of, all in one laptop solutions.
These laptops are great for entertainment geeks. These are good for some professional works too. Plus, you can easily win some mild gaming bets here as well. G5 and G7 are the two heroes of this stretch.
#2. Gigabyte Does Have Some Truly Power-Punched Gaming and Creators’ Laptops
If you are tired of those tussles between your present laptop’s hardware and your demands i.e. the hardware isn’t competent enough to get by things, Gigabyte has a solution for you. As it is a brand only for elite laptop nerds, most of its laptops are packed with superb hardware vigor.
While most of the brand’s gaming and creators’ machines come with no less than 10th Gen processing powers, it has lots of 11th Gen beasts as well. Regarding GPUs, lots of machines here even flaunt up to RTX 3070 and even 3080 chips. Otherwise, packing GTX 30 series graphics chips is pretty normal for laptops here.
So performance has never been an issue with these laptops. For most laptops here, supporting 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD (in some cases it’s 64GB and 2TB with support for an external HDD too) is also a normal thing.
That said, a great deal of Aorus gaming laptops features RGB-backlit and gaming-fit mechanical keyboards as well.
#3. Gigabyte Laptops Have Immaculate Displays
At Gigabyte, there is no compromise on the display quality either. Most of the gaming laptops here come with screens displaying higher refresh rates. And the focus is more on the resolution and other display facets when it comes to the creators’ machines.
You can easily find a Full HD display with up to 300Hz refresh rate in the Aorus lineup. Whereas, while talking about the Aero series, there are some perfect desktop replacement options with HDR and up to OLED-level displays.
There are two more things regarding the displays on these laptops. One thing that I love the most is that almost every Gigabyte laptop features almost a bezel-less display. You’ll hardly see any blind margin on the three sides of the screen.
Whereas, one thing that I hate the most is the webcam’s placement in these laptops. At Gigabyte, you’ll usually find nostril webcams i.e. the camera is seated on the lower bezel of the display and not the upper one. That’s I think, a bit awkward move.
Let’s now look at the NO section of “is Gigabyte a good brand for laptops?”.
Some Reasons Why You Should Never Reach Out to Gigabyte for Your Next Laptop
Look, my friend, it is a brand more for gamers, in fact, solely for gamers. It has some great solutions for those looking for an absolute ripper gaming laptop. Even you can easily find some beast desktop replacement laptops too. Laptops here are crammed with extreme raw powers and are perfect for the purpose.
That said, Gigabyte has a few top-of-the-line laptops for the likes of high-end content creation works too. Nonetheless, if the brand is known in the laptop PC industry, all the credit goes to its few brute gaming laptops.
When and Why Should You Avoid Gigabyte
Although gigabyte is deemed as an aristocrat brand, its price tag speaks volumes and anyone with a tight pocket might struggle to get their hands on a decent rig. Furthermore, their products aren’t even versatile enough to cover office routines. And if you are a businessman, steer clear!
So that’s one thing for you. But there are a few other things for those elite laptop nerds too i.e. a few points knowing which he’d need to think twice before getting his next laptop here.
- Gigabyte laptops are seriously pricey – especially its creators’ laptops. While that looks a normal thing for such laptops, it’s not normal here. Some of the Aero laptops hold truly biting price tags – even above $3K and $4K.
- If you are a looks-conscious person, the brand would, perhaps, disappoint you. It is not good at offering a wide variety of designs, not colors either. Although some gaming laptops here exhibit that bold and badass gaming look. And some creators’ laptops feature sleek, aluminum-clad builds. Still, overall, Gigabyte is average in this department.
- Gigabyte laptops are not that good in terms of durability as well. If seen holistically, the customer reviews show an incline more towards NO when it comes to the overall longevity of these laptops. They say, Gigabyte’s laptops usually carry some flimsy and flexible frames. And in the case of an internal malfunction, you’d be hard-pressed to find a way out – maybe because of the brand’s poor presence in the market.
- The brand is terrible at the warranty and after-sales support department too. To be honest, there is almost zero (0) post-sale support by the company if you, far be, happens to consult them due to some issue with your laptop.
So, is Gigabyte a good brand for laptops? Well, it’s not any good until you are a hardcore gamer looking for a superb gaming quick-fix. Or a content creator or designer who is tired of his money.
What I mean by this is that, yeah, Gigabyte, without doubt, has some great laptop solutions for those hardcore gamers. Plenty of gaming laptops here demos tower-class and desktop replacement raw powers. And they are pretty fairly priced too.
But overall, I can say that for laptops, Gigabyte has a poor value selection. Yeah, it has some truly exceptional creators’ machines too, but because they are so crazily priced, you’d be hard put to afford one. And you can easily find quite better options elsewhere.
Anyways, there are some other legit reasons you can easily skip over Gigabyte for your next laptop. Go, give this article a read as there’s every single thing you need to know regarding Gigabyte’s laptop line.
